Scholarship Guidelines

The Pine Beach 5K and One Mile Riverside Run will be awarding a scholarship to a deserving Toms River South High School sending district. The individual selected must be planning to continue on to a two or four year college, or a vocational/technical school.

An independent scholarship committee will review all applications. The deadline for applications is April 16, 2008. The scholarship will be awarded at the Pine Beach 5K and One Mile Riverside Run. Only typed applications will be accepted.

Criteria

Include your name, address and telephone number on the top of your application.

The applicant must include a copy of their letter of acceptance to their post secondary school.

Give a description of any school programs that you were involved with, and any accomplishments you have achieved in the program.

List any academic accomplishments that you have received; e.g. honor roll, National Honor Society, honors or advanced placement classes.

List any athletic accomplishments that you have achieved in school and the community. Include any team, or individual awards and at what level.

Describe any volunteer involvement you have had with your community; e.g. the first aid, helping out a neighbor, fund raising. This can include political, athletic or religious.

Write a short essay (250 words or less) on what makes Ocean County a great place to live or visit.
